Who are we?
Earth kids is now into it’s 9th year!
It was founded in 2015 by Nurture Ecology Ltd (Ecology and Natural Habitat Specialists) and Core Learning Jersey (Specialist Tutoring, Educational Consultation and Support). The founding team still run the Camps each year, bringing a wonderful mix of adventurous fun and nurturing activity. We work with an incredible team of specialists who join us to run music, yoga and mindfulness, arts and crafts activities and more - many of whom have worked with us since day one.
We are fully insured, first aid trained and all staff have been certified and checked to enable them to work with children. We have qualified teachers and teaching assistants on every the camp week and aim for a 1:5 to 1:8 staff to student ratio at our camps to make sure campers always get lots of personal attention.
The Earth Kids Team
We have a main team consisting of 3 people, Paul, Harriet and Chris. Every year we invite other instructors, teachers, meditators, dancers, astronauts, etc, to come and help us deliver our camps and keep things fresh! (...astronauts may not always be available!)
Chris Jones (Chris)
Chris has taught in schools in England and Jersey for over 15 years and is now running his own tutoring company - Core Learning - in between being a big Earth Kid.
He is passionate about developing the whole child and not just the academic, having been an Educational Needs co-ordinator, Mental Health First Aider, PSHE co-ordinator and Designated Safeguarding Officer at his previous school, all of which he brings with him to Earth Kids.
Harriet Safe (Hazza)
Harriet has been a part of Earth Kids since its inception. She leads the Ecology team at Nurture Ecology Ltd and in 2022 was recognised as an Associate Director of the company.
She is a firm believer that the outdoors is the best type of classroom!
Harriet is the cool, calm energy at Earth Kids and the reason it all goes so smoothly.
Paul Wagstaffe (Wag)
Paul (who you will only ever hear referred to as ‘Wag’) initially dreamt up the idea of the Camps to share the magic of childhood in St Ouen’s bay. Knowing Chris would be the perfect co-leader, Earth Kids was born.
As Founding Director of Nurture Ecology Ltd, his work is committed to nature. He is passionate about the wild and passing on his knowledge to the next generation.
